Oyster drills are infamous

I was recently out in San Francisco Bay finishing up our citizen-science based oyster drill eradication project. We were fortunate to have the SF Chronicle feature an article about our project, written by reporter Peter Fimrite and photographer Paul Kuroda. It was a blast to spend some time chatting about oyster drills and oysters with them. My favorite quote is from my colleague Chela Zabin “At this point, given these results, it doesn’t make sense to do oyster restoration here. We would just be feeding the drills.” Love it. The Marin Independent Journal also wrote an article about the project as well!

We’ll be doing the analysis on this data soon and writing up the results. There will also be a public event to share the results at the Richardson Bay Audubon Center on Saturday October 27 at 2pm!
